Dylan Meek to play hometown concert

Dylan Meek, who was raised in Wimberley, is coming home to perform a concert this St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17, in the main sanctuary of the Wimberley United Methodist Church. The doors open at 7 pm for the 7:30 concert.

Meek, who now resides in Los Angeles, will perform two shows for SXSW.

“It’s also important to me to return to my hometown of Wimberley to play for the community I grew up being a part of,” Meek said.

Joining him in this special concert is James Yoshizawa, one of the most highly sought drummers in LA.

After a lifetime’s worth of collaboration with many musical legends, Meek pivoted to focusing on writing and performing his own original songs, growing a faithful fan base in LA with his band. He recently self-produced and engineered his first all original solo record “All I Need” now out on all platforms.

If Nelson Riddle and D’angelo ran an icehouse on the Devil’s Backbone, this is the music they would book on a Saturday night,” Buck Meek of the band Big Thief said.

Since leaving Wimberley at 18, the now 31 year old completed a bachelor’s degree from the New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC, played extensively on the jazz scene of NYC and LA, collaborated with Questlove and several of “The Roots” crew members, recorded piano and keys on Mike Judge’s “Tales From The Tour Bus” TV show, was Grammy nominated for the song “Invincible” for the Spider-Verse soundtrack, co-written with Om’mas Keith and Amin , toured with Imagine Dragons arena and stadium tour, played on Seth Myers, Good Morning America, and twice on both James Cordan and The Fallon Show. He has recorded with his brother Buck Meek and has performed with Jolie Holland, Post Malone, Quavo, Metro Boomin, Grant AME Gospel Choir, Tom Odell, Theo Katzman, The Marias, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Brian Mcknight Jr, Kelsey Wilson (Sir Woman), and many NYC legendary jazz musicians including mentor Jimmy Neeley.

Concert tickets will be available at the door with a $20 donation for adults. College students and under 18 are free. Cash, card, check, or Venmo will be accepted. Early arrival is encouraged for best seating as Meek’s past Wimberley concerts have had large turnouts.
