City of Wimberley closing public buildings, offering remote services
In order to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, the City of Wimberley (City) is closing public-facing counters and public facilities to entry from the public beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
“Because of the current escalation level of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Wimberley has enacted the closing of public departments, lobbies and counters,” said City Administrator, Shawn Cox. “Such decisions are not made lightly. We use the best information from regional partners and trusted health organizations to protect the public and our employees from the spread of this virus.”
New City Closures:
• Beginning Tuesday, March 24th, all City buildings and facilities will be closed to walk-in traffic, with most services still available via phone (512) 847-0025 and online at www.cityofwimberley.com. Closure of City buildings and facilities will be in place until further notice.
• While park offices will be closed, the parks will remain open.
• Payments, applications, permits, service requests and more will be available by phone, online and by mail. Please visit
www.cityofwimberley. com/forms to access City applications and forms. Mail payments to 221 Stillwater Drive, Wimberley, Texas 78676.
• All City sponsored events are canceled through Thursday, May 14, 2020, per the City’s Declaration of Emergency.
• No outside events may be held in City buildings, facilities or meeting rooms.
• In-person staff will follow CDC guidelines and maintain necessary distance, as well as implement extra steps to ensure the safety of the public and employees.
