PHOTO BY DALTON SWEAT/WIMBERLEY VIEW Casino Night will be held on February 14 this year.

Casino Night fundraiser for Wounded Warriors

A different kind of Valentines night, it not only is a treat, but shows your love of country. What? A Casino in Wimberley, Valentines and patriotism all happening in one event, in one night in one place? Sure but don’t forget the finger foods, snacks, drinks and a margarita machine.

It all happens on Friday night, February 14, 6 to 10 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Activity Center behind the Church. And to make it patriotic, all of the proceeds go for a great cause, the Warrior and Family Support Center at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

“St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus have been hosting this for the past nine years. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior and Family Program. This helps wounded soldiers and their families, recovering from the effects of PTSD, helping them return to society, and other needs,” John Czop, chairman of the event said. The rehabilitation involves learning to cope with war related disabilities as individuals, as couples, and as families.

This is a program of the Fourth Degree Knights of St. Mary’s. There are four degrees in the Knights program with the Fourth Degree being the highest honor. The Fourth Degree is dedicated to patriotism.

“They’ll be slot machines, and twenty-five different games on hand to try your luck at,” Czop said. It’s Vegas meets Wimberley and you’ll save on the plane fare and travel time. There will also be guests of honor, invited Wounded Warriors.

There will be Black Jack, Craps, Texas Hold’em, 3 card poker, roulette, and these aren’t professional dealers who work for the house, but actually for you the gamblers. They’ll actually help if one’s card game playing is rusty. Admission includes $5,000 in play money, finger foods, snacks and an open bar.

What a great way to spend a Valentines Night, helping service members and having a good time yourself.

Admission is $30 presale or four for $100 and available at wimberley4th.com. Tickets at the door are $35 or four at $125.
