Bold Beauty to open in Central Texas

Deb Lewin was an international athlete...until her car was broadsided! “I sustained a traumatic brain injury, resulting in left side paralysis, spinal fusions, chronic pain, and was confined to a wheelchair. I call this ‘My Opportunity!’”

Lewin is one of 20 incredible women affected by various disabilities and health challenges who eagerly modeled for Bold Beauty Project Texas. Through the creative lenses of award winning photographers and personal stories by each model, this project seeks to exhibit these bold women in a way that shows that strength, sensuality, and spirit are also elements of beauty.

Bold Beauty Project Texas is the latest installation of a photographic exhibition, which began in Miami in 2006. Now, a team of volunteers and artists in Wimberley have embarked on bringing this powerful project to Texas. Several venues have been reserved to display this work and each will include opening receptions where guests can meet many of the models and photographers.

The initial show will be at Messina Inn in Wimberley, January 11th through 13th, with the reception on Saturday, January 12, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Next is Walkers’ Gallery in the San Marcos Activity Center, January 12th through February 15th, with the reception on Friday, January 18th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibition will be at The People’s Gallery, City Hall in Austin, February 5th through December 31st, with the reception on Friday, February 22nd, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Old Bakery Emporium will feature the exhibit in their second floor gallery, April 5th through May 1st, with the reception on Friday, April 5th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Details about Bold Beauty Project Texas, the venues, receptions, and upcoming events may be found at texasboldbeauty.com.
