Bloom unveiled at EmilyAnn

The grand unveiling of the Bloom statue took place Thursday morning at the EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens as members of the community, the Wimberley Valley Art League and members of the Rogers family gathered on top of the hill for the ceremony.

Created by Angela De La Vega, the statue is in honor of lives lost in 2020, 2021, and 2022 by the family of Wimberley resident Marymichael Rogers.

“It was an awesome experience,” Ann Rolling of Emily Ann Theater said. “Not only was having the artist there, but also talking about her piece and how it was created. Having the Rogers family there, whose family members lost their lives, was a beautiful moment. Watching the artist and Marymichael Rogers embrace was such an emotional moment. It is really depicted in the statue itself. Many of the Wimberley Valley Art League were there as well as members of the community. It was such a celebration of hope…knowing what happened in Uvalde, it made us pause and think about the lives that were lost on top of that hill.”

The statute is now placed for viewing on the hilltop at EmilyAnn.
