Big Band shows off back stage behind Cypress Creek Cafe
Close to 200 people surged through the gates behind the burned-out Cypress Creek Café building to dance, listen, and chill-out to the great music of Wimberley Valley Big Band on Saturday night, June 1. The BackStage area has been closed for several years, but the owners invited our local non-profit Wimberley Valley Big Band to open the area with an outdoor concert/dance. Locals and visitors alike brought lawn chairs and blankets, and coolers to enjoy the summer’s evening, and a local food truck, Angie’s Fried Pies, provided delicious down-home treats.
Despite the near-90 degree heat, dancers graced the concrete floor in front of the bandstand as the Band rocked out favorites such as String of Pearls, Cry Me a River, Gimme Some Lovin’, Sway, Rockin’ Robin, and many others for nearly 2 ½ hours. The crowd wouldn’t let the Band stop, demanding an encore! What fun!
The Wimberley Valley Big Band is a 21-piece, non-profit group of musicians who love to play big band music and have a great time while doing it. All donations go to supporting community oriented concert/dances like this one. Like us on Facebook or connect with us via www.wimberleyvalleybigband.org.
