Barnabas Connection 5 K Fun Run

October 20 is one day to mark on your calendars. The morning can be one of those Saturday family outings you keep promising your family and at the same time help out one of Wimberley’s premiere non-profits. All donations stay here to help out those who live in the Wimberley Valley. One way to raise funds to help will be with a Fun Run.

“The 5K Run/Walk will take place at the Blue Hole Regional Park starting at 8 a.m. for a timed run for individual or teams. At 9 a.m. a 1K Family Run/Walk will be held for contestants of all ages,” Event Chair for the Barnabas Connection, David Miller said.

The Barnabas Connection was formed in 2004 and just ask anyone who was around in 2015 and they can tell you stories about BC’s help during the floods and the following trying months.

The non-profit 501(c) (3) organization not only provides health and human services but are also advocates for those less fortunate. Their services are needed throughout the year and it provides advocacy for clients who are in need. They would like to do more.

“The only thing that is holding us back is financing to do this…On October 20, we will offer the first of what we hope to be the annual Barnabas Connection 5K Run/Walk,” Miller said.

”It is geared for the entire family…In addition to the Run/Walk there will also be events for the whole family to do and have fun.” There will be a Fire Truck, games, face painting, and more. Chef Jay will be there. Also Kelly Evers and Creekside Cookers and other food trailers are participating,” Miller said.
