WHS Senior Caden Romo to be Air Force Falcon
Wimberley HS senior Caden Romo signed a National Letter of Intent on December 20th at a ceremony at WHS’s Texan Gym to continue his playing career at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Flanked by his immediate family, and cheered on by scores of other family members and many of his Texan teammates, Romo made official a verbal commitment he gave to the Falcons back in June.

Polar Bear Plunge & 5K Run at Blue Hole
Get a fresh start to 2024 with the Polar Bear Plunge and 5K run at Blue Hole Regional Park, January 1st. The event ushers in the New Year with a combination of fitness and fun. The 5K route begins at Blue Hole, winds through downtown Wimberley and concludes with an exhilarating plunge into the crisp waters of Cypress Creek. The festivities include music, food and drink vendors, games, prizes and a warming fire pit.

Two Edwards Aquifer species are listed by US as not endangered, based on most recent scientific date
Two central Texas aquatic species have avoided listing on the Endangered Species Act: the Texas Troglobitic Water Slater– a small subterranean crustacean that lives deep within the Edwards Aquifer in Hays County and the Mimic Cavesnail–a small freshwater snail that lives in the Edwards Aquifer in Bexar County.

Texas seeks public input on statewide plan expanding access to high-speed broadband internet
The Texas Broadband Development Office, operated by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, is soliciting input from the public on the new Texas Digital Opportunity Plan. The plan outlines how these entities will connect the Lone Star State for a brighter future by making it easier for all Texans to access and use the internet.
