PEC employees donate more than 2,500 school supplies to students in need
Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) employees teamed up to brighten the start of the school year for students in need. Across its offices, PEC employees donated more than 2,500 school supplies to benefit local Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) chapters in the cooperative’s territory. CASA of Central Texas recruits, trains, and supports volunteer advocates to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in foster care.

State funding leads to WISD tax increase, budget deficit
Wimberley ISD unanimously passed a new budget and tax rate that will lower the tax rate but increase taxes for property owners resulting in a 21.6% increase in total estimated tax revenue for the district.

PEC now taking applications for community grants
Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is now accepting applications for its fall round of community grants. Nonprofits within, or surrounding the cooperative’s service territory, are encouraged to apply for a grant of up to $5,000. The deadline is Friday, September 30.
