Fire burns 60-80 acres, no lives lost, no homes damaged
“It was hot,” Christopher Robbins, Assistant Chief of Wimberley Fire and Rescue, said. “It is hard to describe to someone that doesn’t see these types of responses on a daily basis. Every time you would blink, the fire would double. Every time I went back to the truck to call for more resources, you would see through that smoke and see the rise of heat. It was so hot, it didn’t matter how far you stood back, you were getting burned up.” 04/14/2022 12:00 AM
Bee Prepared
Bee Prepared
The title of this article is not a typo, because I hope we’ll all prepare to encourage our wonderful pollinator bees this spring. We love our spring and summer wildflowers and blooming perennials, and pollinators are a flower’s best friend. In fact, the main purpose of a flower on a plant is to attract pollinators and insure reproduction. In addition to our beautiful flowers over 150 species of grain and fruit crops depend on this process. Flying insects accomplish the vast majority of this important task, and bees are exceptionally suited for the job. Their fuzzy surface helps pollen grains adhere to their bodies and their legs have evolved to carry pollen. 04/14/2022 12:00 AM
