The 80th Wimberley VFW Rodeo drew sellout crowds on its final two nights over the Fourth of July weekend, making it one of the best-attended rodeos in the event's history.

According to VFW Commander Brady Love, the rodeo broke all records. “We closed the gates at 8:45 on Friday and stopped selling tickets at 8:15 on Saturday. I don’t think that’s ever happened two days in a row. We sincerely thank the community for their overwhelming support, from the ticket holders to every sponsor who made this such a singular event.”

VFW Quartermaster Nathan Hall concurred. “We can’t thank the City of Wimberley and the City of Woodcreek for sponsoring the incredible firework show for the second year in a row. The outstanding display was facilitated by Manuel Grafia of Freedom Defense Tactical.”

“Our VFW leadership from Commander Love, to Volunteer Coordinator Bob Flocke and the VFW Auxiliary, who organized the concessions, was outstanding. Despite the large numbers of spectators, everyone who attended seemed very happy,” said Hall. Hays County Deputies reported no problems throughout the 3-day event.

The after-rodeo dance, reinstated last year, was also a boon. According to Hall, “we had to turn away people when we reached 250.”
