The Best Little Parade in Texas pulled out the stops to celebrate the 250-year anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Before temperatures could climb into the 90s, thousands of spectators gathered along RR 12 to cheer the record 125 parade entries in pure hometown Wimberley style.

With decorated floats, classic cars and horseback riders, the Chamber-sponsored and organized event gained significant international attention from supporters as far away as the United Kingdom when The Independent published a major feature on Wimberley’s celebration of America's 250th birthday.

Parade winners for the Best Decorated Business was Heckel & Sons Construction; for the Most Patriotic Entry was Hays County GOP; for Funniest Entry was Luna Environmental; winning the Best Decorated Sports Team award was WISD Girls Soccer; for Best Decorated Nonprofit was Keep Wimberley Beautiful; for the Best Decorated Golf Cart or Family Vehicle the winning entry was The Manuppelli Family; and for the Best Decorated Classic Car was David Blackwell & Company.

Beyond the parade, the community feted the historic occasion with a 3-day rodeo, fireworks sponsored by the cities of Wimberley and Woodcreek and a dance at the VFW’s 80th Rodeo.
