Knights honor emergency responders and volunteers

The Wimberley Knights of Columbus recently held an awards evening where they presented several grants and received two Knights of Columbus meritorious awards.

The 4th Degree KofC, the Patriotic Degree, presented several grants to local emergency responders. The grants were presented to Wimberley Fire and Rescue, Wimberley EMS, Hays County Sheriff’s Department and Hays County Constable Precinct 3 and to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The grants allow Emergency Responders to have extra funds to purchase needed equipment or supplies that might not be covered in their budget.

The Grants were funded by the Knights Annual Casino Night. The event also sponsored the Knights’ 5th Annual Emergency Responder Appreciation Lunch held March 12. At that luncheon, the Knights served a complimentary Bar-B-Que lunch to 144 Emergency Responders from the Wimberley Valley and San Marcos, TX.

The 3rd Degree KofC Council 9151 generously awarded a grant to the Circle of Friends to assist them in their work aiding families who have a member experiencing moderate memory loss. The Circle of Friends, an all-volunteer group, will be able to use the grant money to provide materials, supplies and other needed items to comfortably continue their compassionate work. The Circle of Friends meets weekly and provides entertainment, care and attention and offers specialized enrichment programs for adults.
