Communications Director for Wimberley Independent School District Allan Bruggmann issued an alert last Friday following an alarm at Wimberley High School. “At 12:26 p.m. a silent panic alarm was accidentally initiated at Wimberley High School by a staff member. The triggering of this silent alarm automatically notifies all staff in the building to go into lockdown status. In less than a minute of the silent panic alarm being activated, it was determined the alarm was accidentally initiated. The WHS School Resource Officer immediately contacted the Hays County Sheriff’s Office to cancel the response and an announcement was made in the building notifying staff and students that it was a false alarm. Per our safety protocols for confirmed false alarms, each classroom was released and students were able to continue on their normal schedules.”
The alert went on to read, “We are grateful for the swift response of our staff and students to follow our established protocols. As always, if this experience had a strong impact on your student they are able to access support through the school counseling office and/or the Wellness Center. Thank you for your partnership in helping to keep our students and staff safe.”
