The Green Team at Wimberley United Methodist Church is holding their second Earth Day Celebration on April 25, joined by the United Methodist Men who are holding their first-ever crawfish boil as part of the celebration. The event will be held at "The Pumpkin Patch," near the church at the junction of CR1492 and RR12.
The event begins at 10 a.m., with food service beginning at 11, and continues until 3 p.m. In addition to the traditional crawfish boil, the celebration promises exhibits, earth-friendly information, live music and activities for all ages. This year’s exhibitors include Hays County Master Naturalists, Keep Wimberley Beautiful, Texas Metal Tanks, Mothering Earth with Salwa Khan and Ecosystem Regeneration Artisans.
The crawfish boil dinner includes 3 pounds of crawfish and sides for a nominal charge of a $25 donation to the church. Water is free and other drinks will be available for purchase. There will be free hot dogs for kids who are crawfish-sensitive. For adults wanting hot dogs, there will be a small charge.
The organizers urge guests to purchase crawfish dinners well ahead of time before they are sold out by visiting wimberleyumc.org or by scanning the QR code above. Day-of event orders will be available but limited and the entire event will be capped at 200 plates. Proceeds from the crawfish boil will go to provide scholarships for children to attend summer camps.
Parking is available near the event or on church grounds and ferry service is available for those who need it. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to the church grounds under the covered patios.
Wimberley United Methodist Men is a fellowship at the church geared toward expanding spirituality and togetherness while performing service and other projects for the church and the greater Wimberley area.
