Preppers and disaster specialists gathered on the grounds of the VFW Post #6441 for the annual Emergency Preparedness Fair last Saturday. Representatives from 35 different organizations explained their activities and products to community members during the family friendly event. Hays County Office of Emergency of Services staff and volunteers, along with Texas State Parks and Wildlife, Wimberley Emergency Services, Fire and Rescue, KWVH and other specialists answered questions and showed their equipment to the public as kids enjoyed free hotdogs, shaved ice and mini equine rides. Director of Wimberley EMS Services Ken Strange manned the microphone and handed out raffle prizes to kids who completed stops at the fair’s informational booths. Both kids and adults learned how local organizations help citizens prepare for disasters.
