No.5 rankedTexans dominate Bandera

The Texans dominated Bandera in district play, rolling to a 16-1 win.

Wimberley improves to 17-4-2 overall and 2-0 in district play. Bandera falls to 4-17 overall and 0-2 in district play.

The Texans struck first in the top of the first inning as Bailey Wright hit an RBI single.

Ella Patek followed up with an RBI triple before Reagan Kenley crushed a two-run home run to go up 4-0.

Ansley Davis got on base with a leadoff single in the bottom of the second before stealing second and scoring on an error by Bandera.

Emorie Gahan then hit an inside-the-park home run to followed Davis as the Texans lead was extended to 6-0.

Kenley struck again, hitting an RBI double before an RBI double by Grace Strobel made it an 8-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Gahan stole home after hitting a triple before Patek hit an RBI double, extending the lead to 10-0.

Bandera finally got on the board in the top of the fourth on a leadoff home run.

Wimberley responded in the next at-bat as Morgan Smith hit an RBI single followed up by an RBI single by Davis.

A Bandera error scored two more runs for the Texans before Patek hit an RBI double to enforce the run-rule as Wimberley won 16-1.

Strobel earned the win in the circle, allowing just two hits, one earned run and striking out four batters.

Wimberley continues district play this week as the Texans go on the road Tuesday against Fredericksburg before hosting New Braunfels Long Creek on Friday. Both games are set to start at 6:30 p.m.
