Keep Wimberley Beautiful and the City of Wimberley are inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and freshen up the community this spring.
On Saturday, April 11, a free Community Clean Up Day will take place from 8 a.m. to noon, or until trucks are full, in the Lions Club parking lot on FM 2325 in Wimberley. The event is a partnership between the City of Wimberley, Texas Disposal Systems, the Wimberley Lions Club, Ozona Bank and Keep Wimberley Beautiful.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to clear out clutter from homes, garages, and yards while helping keep local roads and neighborhoods clean.
Organizers ask folks to follow posted guidelines for acceptable materials. Items that are allowed are sofas, stoves, refrigerators, water tanks, washing machines, dryers, A/C units, sinks, toilets, furniture, and other waste materials that are certified, where applicable, as Freon-free.
Items that are prohibited are any hazardous items such as chemical compounds, mixtures, or substances, and no paints, motor oils, gasoline, mattresses, box springs, brush, or tires.
In addition to general cleanup disposal, Ozona Bank is teaming up with Keep Wimberley Beautiful to co-fund a Shred-It truck that will be available on site during the same hours. The secure shredding service gives residents a safe way to dispose of old financial records, sensitive documents, and personal paperwork. No metal binders; only paper.
The KWB Youth Program will also be doing a clean up of the area around Dollar General and Wimberley High School from 10 a.m. to noon if you would like to participate.
This event is part of an ongoing effort to maintain the natural beauty and cleanliness that make Wimberley special.
