The Texans are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2024 as Wimberley shut out the New Braunfels Long Creek Dragons 5-0, clinching a berth into the postseason on senior night.
Wimberley finishes the regular season with a 6-11-4 overall record and a 5-5-2 district record.
The game was highlighted by junior Hunter Hodgson completing the hat-trick with three goals. Senior Billy Brown and junior Raul Canil Montenegro also added goals to complete the win.
The Texans will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed representing District 26 in the Class 4A Division II playoffs. Fredericksburg nabbed the No. 1 seed in the Division II playoffs while Marble Falls [No. 1] and Davenport [No. 2] will go into the Division I playoffs.
Wimberley will look to capture the gold ball Friday as the Texans battle the Austin Achieve Polar Bears. Achieve finished the season with a 11-8-2 overall record and a 8-2-2 district record to capture second place in District 25.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m Friday at Dripping Springs.
