The Texans started district play in style with a dominating 15-3 win over their arch-rivals Canyon Lake.
The now No. 8 ranked Texans improve their overall record to 16-4-2 and 1-0 in district play.
Wimberley scored first in the top of the third inning when Bailey Wright hit an RBI double. Wright was brought home on an RBI single by Reagan Kenley.
Ella Patek then stole home for a run before another Wimberley run extend the lead at 4-0.
In the top of the fourth, Wright hit an RBI single to push the Canyon Lake deficit to 5-0.
Wimberley struck again in the top of the fifth when Peyton Wharton hit an RBI double followed up with an RBI double by Ansley Davis, extending the lead to 7-0.
Canyon Lake came back in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring on an RBI single and a two-run RBI double, making it a 7-3 game.
Needing insurance runs in the top of the seventh, the Texans’ bats came alive.
Wright forced a bases loaded walk before Patek hit a two-run RBI single, making it a 10-3 game.
Kenley followed by Patek with a two-run RBI double before Wharton hit an RBI double of her own as the lead was extended to 13-3.
Wharton later scored on a passed ball from third base before an RBI single by Morgan Smith scored the final run of the game at 15-3, sealing the Texans district win.
Charlotte Woodard earned the win in the circle, allowing just three hits, two earned runs and striking out five batters.
Earlier in the week, the Texans were home against the Pleasanton Eagles where Wimberley won 11-2.
The win was significant as Head Coach Robert Klick won his 400th game as head coach.
The Texans will be back in district play this week, playing only one game against the Bandera Bulldogs.
First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Friday in Wimberley.
