Texan softball wins twice, ranked No. 14 in the state

The Texan softball team added two more wins this week, defeating Cornerstone Christian and Blanco.

Wimberley improves to 14-4-2 overall and are ranked in the Top 25 at No. 14.

The Texans started the week on the road against Cornerstone Christian.

Wimberley struck first in the top of the second with Morgan Smith connected with a two-run RBI single to give the Texans the lead. Later in the third inning, Wimberley took advantage of a Cornerstone error leading to another run.

The Texans later tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win.

Charlotte Woodard earned the win for the Texans, pitching a complete game while allowing four hits, no earned runs, one walk and striking out eight batters.

Wimberley wrapped up the week at home to face Blanco.

Ella Patek scored first for the Texans, hitting a solo home run to put Wimberley up first.

Later in the second inning, Wimberley scored on a Jewel Lock RBI triple. Up next, Smith hit an RBI single to score Lock before a two-run RBI double by Emorie Gahan scored two more runs. Bailey Wright then hit an RBI groundout as Wimberley entered the third inning up 7-0.

Ansley Davis scored for the Texans in the bottom of the third, hitting an inside the park home run to make it a 8-0 game.

The Texans scored once again the bottom of the fourth on a wild pitch before an RBI single by Gahan in the fifth ended the game to seal a 10-0 win.

Gahan finished the game with three hits and three RBIs followed by Davis going 2-2 from the plate with two RBIs.

Woodard earned her second win of the week allowing just two hits, no runs, two walks and striking out four batters.

Wimberley is back home Tuesday against Pleasanton before starting district play at Canyon Lake Friday.
