The Barnabas Connection has received a $5,600 contribution to its Wimberley Community Assistance Fund through Sonora Bank’s recent “Round Up at the Register” campaign, themed “Keep Wimberley Warm.”
Sonora Bank contributed $5,000, and an additional $600 was raised through matching support from local businesses including Sip Coffee Shop, Social, and Cedar Chest. Wimberley Valley residents participated by rounding up their transactions to the nearest dollar, helping extend the campaign’s impact.
“Sonora Bank’s commitment to the Wimberley Valley is something we see time and time again,” said Executive Director of the Barnabas Connection, Kate Sowell.“They don’t simply do business here, they invest in the people and in the future of this Valley. Their generosity reflects a genuine care for the people of Wimberley, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership. In addition to initiatives like ‘Keep Wimberley Warm,’ they also host an annual toy drive each year to help bring joy to local families during the holiday season through the Barnabas Christmas Store.”
The Wimberley Community Assistance Fund is the longest-running program of the Barnabas Connection and provides short-term financial assistance for essential needs such as rent and utilities. The recent donation will help families facing hardship during seasonal weather challenges.
As temperatures begin to rise, the organization will shift its focus toward supporting residents during periods of extreme heat, ensuring assistance remains available year-round.
