The Texans won their first home of the season defeating the Bastrop Bears 18-8.
Following their home tournament at Texan Classic, the Texans improve to 7-2-2 for the season.
The highlight of the Texans win over Bastrop was shortstop Ella Patek hitting two home runs for Wimberley, going 2-3 from the plate with six RBIs.
Wimberley scored five runs in the first inning with the help of Patek’s two-run homer, Emorie Gahan’s leadoff home run, a sacrifice fly by Ansley Davis and an RBI triple from Palin Wharton.
Bastrop pulled within one in the fourth inning before the Texans answered back with another five runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Gahan connected with a two-run RBI single before Patek batted in a run on a sac fly. Reagan Kenley then hit a two-run RBI triple before scoring again on a groundout to lead 10-4.
The Bears made another comeback attempt, scoring four more runs in the top of the fifth inning before the Texans answered once more.
Bailey Wright connected with an RBI single to score a run before Patek crushed a three-run home run, extending the lead to 14-8.
In the bottom of the sixth, Wharton scored on a fielder’s choice before Morgan Smith hit a two-run RBI triple. Gahan scored the game winning run on a RBI single, making the final score 18-8.
Wimberley later competed at the Texan Classic where the Texans collected wins over Aubrey, Lorena and Hallettsville before tying both Franklin and Gonzales.
The Texans are back on the road against La Vernia before going back into tournament play at Ingleside.
