Wild About Walking

Seasons of Science, an outreach initiative from Texas State University’s Department of Biology, in partnership with the Hays County Master Naturalists, invites the community to step outside and explore nature during “Wild About Walking,” a two-day, family-friendly science event celebrating seasonal change and outdoor discovery.

Held at two local venues, The Shady Llama and Roughhouse Brewing, the two spring events transform familiar community spaces into interactive science hubs where visitors of all ages can learn, play and connect with the natural world.

Designed as come-and-go experiences, Wild About Walking encourages participants to explore at their own pace through hands-on activities, nature-based games, and guided outdoor explorations offered throughout the afternoon.

The free, family-friendly events take place March 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Shady Llama, 18325 RR 12 and on March 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Roughhouse Brewing, 680 Oakwood Loop in San Marcos.

The events are part of Seasons of Science, an ongoing effort to make science accessible, engaging, and rooted in everyday community spaces. By blending informal learning with outdoor exploration, the program helps families build connections to local ecosystems while enjoying time together.
