Texans clinch 30-win season with victories over Canyon Lake and Bandera

The Texans train continues to roll as Wimberley defeated both Canyon Lake and Bandera in district play.

Wimberley improves their overall record to 30-2 and their district record to 7-0.

The Texans started the week at home against the archrival Canyon Lake Hawks with Wimberley winning 76-44.

Senior Paul Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in scoring with 23 points followed by senior Holden Crawford with 14 points. Junior Harley Peacock was third in scoring with 11 while junior Nathan Baker finished with 10 points.

Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in both rebounds and assists with 9 and three.

The Texans were back on the Friday as Wimberley took on the Bandera Bulldogs.

It was another dominating win for the Texans, scoring 56 first half points en route to a 90-59 win over the Bulldogs.

Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in scoring with 29 points followed y Reece Wortham with 17 points. Baker was third in scoring with 15 with Peacock scoring 11 and Crawford scoring with 10.

Gumbert-Mendoza completed the double-double with 13 rebounds while Wortham led the team in assists with seven.

The Texans return to play Tuesday when Wimberley hosts rival Fredericksburg before traveling to New Braunfels to face-off with the Long Creek Dragons. Tip-off for both games are set for 7 p.m.
