Wimberley Fire Rescue officially welcomed their new Fire Chief, Christopher Robbins, last week. The Hays County Emergency Services District #4 Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to promote Robbins into the role of Fire Chief. For the last two years Robbins has served as Assistant Fire Chief under retiring Chief Carroll Czichos, who has held the position of Chief since 1980.

Born and raised in Wimberley, Robbins began volunteering at the Wimberley Fire Department while still in high school.

Czichos joined the Wimberley Fire Department in 1970. He became Assistant Chief in 1975 and was promoted to Chief in 1980. During his tenure he served as a Deputy County Fire Marshal and a swiftwater rescue trainer.
