The 2026 Polar Bear Plunge and 5K race, held at Blue Hole Regional Park, was a huge success this year according to the new City of Wimberley Parks and Recreation Director Erica Flocke. “For the first time ever, we sold out the event with over 350 registered runners and an additional 150 plungers and spectators.”

“We heard a ton of good feedback about the route this year and will be sticking to a trail run for future events,” said Flocke.

The previous route for the annual 5K run took runner through the town, which meant they had to contend with traffic.

The first place runner, James Bales, finished with a fast 19 minutes, 30 seconds. In second place was Nathan Cisneros and in third was Noah Bales.”
