Kick off 2026 with fitness, fun and a community tradition with the annual Polar Bear Plunge and 5K. Participants run a scenic 5K through Blue Hole before taking a bold plunge into the cold, clear waters of Cypress Creek. Whether racing in the 5K or jumping straight into the creek, the event is a memorable way to drive off the winter doldrums and welcome the year ahead. For plunge-only participants, registration is not required. Registration includes an event t-shirt, drink tickets for a hot beverage and a swag bag.
At Blue Hole Regional Park, 333 Blue Hole Ln., Wimberley. The cost is $35 per person for regular registration; $45 per person the day of the event. Plunge-only participants do not need a ticket.
Event check-In is 9:15 a.m. Stretching and warmup is at 9:30. The 5K begins at 10 a.m. and the Polar Bear Plunge starts at 11 a.m. The awards ceremony is at 11:30 and the event ends at 12:30 p.m. Bring a towel, a change of clothes, and plenty of New Year’s spirit.
