Lady Texans compete at Fairfield Tournament

The Lady Texans competed at the Fairfield Tournament where Wimberley was able to improve their record to 4-9 on the season.

The Lady Texans look to close out non-district play on a high note before district play begins.

Wimberley started the week at home against the Austin McCallum Knights, ending with the Lady Texans winning 58-31.

In the first game of the Fairfield Tournament, the Lady Texans faced the tournament hosts. Wimberley was unable to capture the win against the state powerhouse as the Lady Texans fell to Fairfield 65-29.

Wimberley continued on through the tournament as the Lady Texans faced the Ponder Lions.

The Lady Texans fell behind 16-1 in the first quarter before making their comeback attempt. Though Wimberley outscored Ponder in the rest of the quarters, it wasn’t enough to make up the difference. Wimberley fell 48-36.

The Lady Texans closed out tournament play against the Teague Lions with Wimberley capturing the win at 44-36.

The highlight of the tournament was sophomore Ainsley Stotler winning the Fairfield Tournament Three-Point Contest.

Wimberley returns home this week as the Lady Texans host Cornerstone Christian Tuesday night before hosting Cuero on Thursday. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
