The Texans season came to an end last Friday night as Wimberley fell to the Sinton Pirates 35-26 who scored 28 unanswered points in the second half.

Wimberley finishes the season with an 85 overall record while Sinton improves to 12-1.

Despite Sinton receiving the ball to start the game, the Code Red Defense forced their first turnover of the game on a fumble, giving the ball to the Texans.

After senior quarterback Jackson Parker hit junior wide receiver Colt Wright on the screen pass to punt the Texans inside the 5-yard line, junior kicker Beau Holeman made the 19-yard field goal to put Wimberley up 3-0.

The Code Red defense forced Sinton to put on their next drive as the Texans were once again inside the 5-yard line following a big run by senior Maverick Jacobs.

In the second quarter, Jacobs scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown to put the Texans up 10-0 over Sinton.

Forcing another Sinton punt, the Texan offense again drove down to the Sinton 5-yard line before Holeman made the 21-yard field goal, putting Wimberley up 13-0.

With under a minute left before halftime, the Pirates scored their first points of the game on a seven-yard touchdown run, cutting Wimberley’s lead to 13-7.

Receiving the ball to start the second half, the Texans struck again as Parker found Colt Wright for a 17-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 20-7.

The Code Red defense then came up with another big play, stuffing the Pirates on fourth down at the line of scrimmage inside Sinton territory near midfield.

The Texans were unable to score on the ensuing drive as Wimberley punted to give the ball back to Sinton.

The Pirates took advantage of the punt, scoring on a 55yard passing touchdown, cutting the lead down to 20-14.

In the fourth quarter, Sinton forced another Wimberley punt before scoring on a 66yard rushing touchdown as the Pirates took their first lead of the game at 21-20.

The Pirates then hit their third big offensive play of the second half, scoring on a 47yard run and extending the lead to 29-20 after converting on the two-point conversion.

Forcing another Texans punt, the Pirates struck again and scored from the 2-yard line, extending the lead to 35-20.

But Wimberley was not out of the fight yet. On their next possession, the Texans scored as Parker hit Wright for a 23yard touchdown pass, making it a 35-26 game after a botched extra point attempt.

Wimberley’s comeback attempt fell short as Sinton kept the ball before kneeling out the clock to seal the win.

Parker passed for 211 yards and two touchdowns while throwing no interceptions. His main target was Wright who led the team in receiving with four catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Keith Cook was second with three catches for 50 yards followed by Bennett German with two catches for 36 yards.

Jacobs led the team in rushing with 18 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown.

It was a memorable season for the Texans and their fans who saw Wimberley play in eight one-possession games including the largest comeback in program history in a 36-35 win over rival Canyon Lake.

Now the Texans will head into the offseason looking to improve on their 8-5 record.
