Wimberley Adoption Group and Rescue, or WAG Rescue, has selected Christine Gaussiran to lead the organization as its inaugural Executive Director. Gaussiran, a Wimberley resident, begins her tenure on December 1.
“The appointment of Christine Gaussiran as Executive Director marks a significant milestone for WAG Rescue. Her vast nonprofit experience and leadership will strengthen our organization, advance our mission and ensure the continued growth and sustainability of our lifesaving work,” stated Pat Davis, WAG Rescue board member and co-founder of the organization.
Gaussiran brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience to WAG Rescue, most recently as a Grant Strategist with Grants Plus, a national grant consulting firm. She has secured more than $3M in grant funding throughout her career and has extensive experience in fundraising strategy, program development and board and community engagement. Gaussiran has supported a wide range of missiondriven organizations, cultivating strong relationships with funders, partners and community members.
“WAG has spent a decade and a half cultivating a strong local presence and earning the trust of supporters throughout the Wimberley community and beyond,” said Gaussiran. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to steward that legacy and guide WAG Rescue’s next chapter.”
Gaussiran’s connection to animal rescue is both longstanding and personal, having experienced the joy of adopting several dogs during her lifetime. Earlier this year, she adopted Gibbs, an eight-year-old senior dog surrendered to the Austin Animal Center. The experience, she says, reaffirmed her belief in the life-changing power of adoption, for both the animals and their humans. “Gibbs is such a sweet, loyal, happy guy,” Gaussiran shared. “Every dog deserves the chance to feel safe and loved in a forever home.”
WAG Rescue board members believe Gaussiran’s blend of professional expertise and personal passion will be instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission. Her background in grant writing, financial stewardship and strategic planning will support WAG Rescue’s continued growth as a trusted community anchor and advocate for Central Texas dogs waiting to find their forever families.
