The Wimberley Chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization is once again hosting its annual pecan sale to raise funds for the P.E.O. STAR Scholarship, which supports local young women pursuing higher education.

The community is invited to purchase fresh, locally sourced pecans for $14 per pound, with proceeds directly benefiting scholarship recipients. Pecans will be available at Brookshire Brothers in Wimberley on Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last. Orders may also be placed through local P.E.O. members.

“Our pecan sale has become a tradition in Wimberley,” said Karen Gallagher, Wimberley Chapter President. “It’s a wonderful way for the community to support local students and enjoy a Texas favorite at the same time.”

The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship recognizes exceptional high school senior women who demonstrate excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. Funds raised through efforts like the pecan sale help ensure that deserving students in the Wimberley area can continue their educational journeys with less financial burden.

The Wimberley Chapter expressed deep appreciation for the long-standing support of John Ball and Ball Brothers Painting, who have been loyal sponsors of the fundraiser for several years. Each year, John Ball and his company purchase 50 bags of pecans, a contribution that significantly boosts the chapter’s scholarship fundraising efforts. Ball has emphasized that supporting education is one of the most meaningful ways to give back to the community, and he considers the P.E.O. mission an important cause to champion.

The Philanthropic Educational Organization is a U.S.-based international women’s organization of about 197,000 members, with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide.
