The Texans are on their way to the regional finals after sweeping both Navarro and Sweeny in the Area and Regional Semifinal rounds.
Wimberley improves to 44-5 overall and will advance to their 17th regional finals in program history, having appeared five regional finals in the last six seasons.
Wimberley started off the week in Smithson Valley where the Texans faced off with the rival Navarro Panthers. The Texans captured the Area title, sweeping the Panthers 3-0 [25-13, 2514, 25-7].
Freshman Trinity Laney led the team in kills with 13 followed by senior Lilli Sandoval with seven. Senior Cameron Thames was third in kills with six.
The duo of seniors Carson Peoples and Skylar Herring kept the offense moving with a combined 31 assists. Peoples led the team with 18 followed by Herring with 13.
On defense, senior Ashton Shipman led the team in digs with 17. Peoples and Laney were second in digs with seven apiece.
Sandoval led the team in blocks with three.
Advancing to region- als, Wimberley moved to the semifinals where they faced the Sweeny Bulldogs. The Texans once again dominated, winning 3-0 [25-9, 25-18, 25-8].


Sandoval led the team in kills with 12 followed by senior Mariah McCoy and Laney with seven each. Thames was fourth with five kills.
Herring and Peoples once again were the cog in the offensive machine with 32 combined assists. Herring led the team with 21 followed by Peoples with 11.
On defense, Shipman led the team in digs with 14 followed by Laney with 12. Herring was third in digs with 12. McCoy led the team in blocks with four.
Advancing to the Regional Final, Wimberley will face a familiar foe as the Texans will take on Battle of the Backbone rival Canyon Lake.
Taking fourth place overall and the second seed in District 26 4A, the Hawks have rolled through the playoffs, taking Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch 3-0 in the Bi-District round.
Canyon Lake then stunned Cuero to win 3-0 and advanced in the Regional Semifinals where they faced El Campo. The Hawks swept the Ricebirds 3-1.
Wimberley and Canyon Lake have faced off three times this season, twice in district and once at the Seguin Matador Tournament. The Texans won all three meetings against the Hawks.
Tipoff for Wimberley and Canyon Lake is set for 7 p.m. at Littleton Gym in San Antonio.
