Beloved holiday comedy, “Christmas Belles” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten takes the stage at The Wimberley Players, November 14.
In this Southern farce, the Futrelle sisters’ attempts to stage a small-town Texas church pageant go hilariously awry. The chaotic production features a disgruntled Santa, feuding rivals, food poisoning, and a long-hidden family secret that could derail the entire Christmas program.
Directed by veteran Wimberley Players director, Melinda Ellisor, the cast is headlined by comedic powerhouses Molly Poorboy as Honey Raye Futrelle, Whitney Marlett as Miss Geneva, Austin Strobel as Gina Jo Dubberly, John Blythe as John Curtis Buntner, Danny Mosier as Dub Dubberly, Dawn Wright Calvert as Twink Futrelle, Emily Villarreal as Frankie Futrelle Dubberly, Dana Williams as Rhonda Lynn Lampley, Samuel Ellisor as Justin Waverly, Mark Webster as Raynerd Chisum, and Roxanne Strobel as Patsy Price.
“Christmas Belles” runs November 14 through December 7. Friday and Saturday night curtains are 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $30, with student tickets available with ID for $20. Groups of eight or more receive a $2 discount per ticket. Tickets may be purchased in advance online for all “Christmas Belles” performances at wimberleyplayers. org or by calling the box office at 512-847-0575.
