Nominees were publicly accepted beginning this summer and the Hall of Honor class was selected by a committee composed of Greg Howard (spent 22 years as WISD educator, including seven as principal of Danforth JH and 13 as tennis coach), Jarred Robinson (WHS Class of 2000, serves as “Voice of the Texans” on athletic broadcasts), Dane Saucier (WHS teacher/coach for 31 years), Dick Smith (WHS teacher/coach for 10 years), Sharon Uhlaender (WISD/WHS secretary for 19 years), and Doug Warren (WHS coach for 19 years total, Texan Athletic Director/ Head Football Coach from 20132024).

Recently retired Athletic Director Warren said the task to pick the first class was a challenge, “With so many incredible former athletes, coaches, and teams who gave their all for this school, narrowing it down to just a few honorees, was no easy job,” Warren said. “Every nominee had a story worth celebrating, and that’s what made the final choices so difficult. I can name at least 10 more names that I wish we could’ve squeezed in this first class,” he said.
