First Tuesday SMTX Film Series, the best place in the Hill Country and beyond to see documentaries and independent films by Texas filmmakers will screen “Oklahoma Breakdown - The Greatest One-Hit Wonder You’ve Never Heard Of” on Tuesday, November 11 at the Price Center in San Marcos.
Mike Hosty is a legend in certain rarefied musical circles. He wrote the millionseller “Oklahoma Breakdown,” covered and made famous by Stoney LaRue. Hosty is a one-man band who counts among his fans some of the best known musicians and has thrived mostly in underground music scenes, touring endlessly and living the life of a road warrior.
Director Christopher Fitzpatrick captured his story in this documentary that features Stoney LaRue, Shinyribs, Cody Canada, James Boland and other musicians, in addition to Hosty himself.
Rolling Stone has this to say about the film: “Oklahoma Breakdown doc is incredible.”
KWVH’s Coach Smith will be on hand to introduce the film, and afterwards, there will be a question and answer session with Director Christopher Fitzpatrick.
Tickets are available at firsttuesdaysmtx.com.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the film begins at 7. Complimentary refreshments from Pie Society and Middleton Brewing are available from 6:30 p.m. The Price Center is located at 222 W. San Antonio, in San Marcos.
