Join in the giving at the Wimberley Community Thanksgiving Dinner

If there’s one thing Wimberley knows inside and out, it is the value of volunteering and community service. A prime example of this practice is the town’s community Thanksgiving Dinner, which this year marks 35 years of sharing the day of gratitude with neighbors and friends. Hosted by Wimberley Valley volunteers since 1988, the beloved tradition is a heartwarming opportunity for community members to not only serve their neighbors, but to dine with them. Last year, volunteers served more than 800 meals.

The traditional dinner also extends to those who cannot travel to the Wimberley Community Center on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers deliver full turkey dinners with all the trimmings to residents and visitors in the Wimberley Valley. Organizers of the event are pre-registering volunteers online beginning November 1 at wimberleyvolunteernow. com. Navigate by clicking the events button. Shifts run from two to twoand- a-half hours.

Volunteers are needed on two days, Wednesday, November 26, for decorating and setting up tables and chairs, and on Thursday, November 27, for greeters, helpers, servers, to-go order packaging and meal delivery, as well as post-event clean-up and load-out. The dinner takes place Thanksgiving Day, November 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14608 RR12. All are welcome and there is no cost to enjoy the meal and the camaraderie.

Supported in part by the City of Wimberley with donations from businesses and individuals, contributions are gladly accepted Thanksgiving Day and at Ozona Bank throughout the year.

Online ordering for meal delivery is available at https://sites.google. com/view/wctd67 6.
