The City of Woodcreek passed several rainwater initiatives last week during their regular City Council meeting. The first initiative will grant a homestead exemption on city property taxes up to $60,000 for residents who install a rainwater collection system from 10,000 to 30,000 gallons for use as the primary household water source.
The second initiative provides cash incentives for removing swimming pools from groundwater sources and using rainwater to keep the pool replenished. Another incentive is available for purchasing and using a pool cover to curtail evaporation.
The city council also passed a resolution calling for a public hearing at 6 p.m. on November 17 at the VFW for the purpose of addressing the Aqua rate case.
