New Halloween tradition benefits Seniors

The Wimberley Thrift Shop invites the community to celebrate the season at its first Fall Harvest Market, a brand-new Halloween tradition for Wimberley families. The event takes place Friday, Oct. 31, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Thrift Shop, with all proceeds benefiting the Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities Center.

The Fall Harvest Market will feature free hot dogs, snow cones, pumpkin painting, local vendors and seasonal fun for all ages. Guests can shop locally, enjoy festive treats and soak up the spirit of the season surrounded by pumpkins, apples and autumn color. Live music by Todd Sampsel and Paul Cones from noon to 3 p.m. will add to the festive atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

“This event is about creating community while supporting our seniors,” said Sheila Manning, president of the Wimberley Seniors. “The Thrift Shop has always been the heartbeat of our fundraising efforts, and the Fall Harvest Market is a joyful way to celebrate Halloween, bring families together and ensure vital programs for seniors continue to thrive.”

The Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities Center offers a wide range of services and activities that enrich the lives of older adults in the community. From daily games and social gatherings to support groups like Circle of Friends, the organization fosters connection, combats isolation and helps seniors live with dignity and joy. The Wimberley Thrift Shop plays a vital role in supporting these programs, serving as the primary source of funding for the Senior Center.

Beyond its financial impact, the Thrift Shop is also a hub for the entire Wimberley community. Families and individuals can shop locally and discover great bargains, while those with items to donate have a meaningful way to reuse and recycle. Every purchase and donation not only keeps usable goods out of landfills but also directly supports seniors across the valley.

“With food, music and fun for the whole family, the Fall Harvest Market offers a fresh and festive way to enjoy Halloween while making a meaningful difference in the lives of local seniors,” Manning said. Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities Center and the Wimberley Thrift Shop provide essential programs and services for older adults in the Wimberley Valley. Proceeds from the Thrift Shop support activities, community outreach and resources that enhance independence, wellbeing and connection for seniors. Learn more at www.wimberleyseniors. com.
