Oct. 18

Boo! Hole Halloween, Blue Hole Regional Park, 4 to 10 p.m. Free.

Bring along your gang of ghosts, superheroes, zombies and vampires to enjoy a trick-or-treat trail, costume contests, Halloween- themed carnival games, and more. It’s Wimberley Parks and Rec’s largest event of the year.

Oct. 18

Centennial Celebration, 2 to 4 p.m. open house, 2 p.m. ribbon cutting, at Wimberley Christian Church, 13706 RR12. The oldest church in Wimberley celebrates a milestone with live music from The Ash Family Band and special guest Amy Cartee-Cox.

Oct. 18

Hunters Night Out, 5:30 to 7 p.m., St. Mary Catholic church, 14711 RR12. Barbecue dinner, beverages, live music, raffles, live auction and card scrambles. Tickets at the door $60. Pre-event tickets are $50 each or 4 for $150. Learn more and tickets at Huntersnightout.

Browse and purchase native plants and trees. Online order pickup is Oct. 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Dripping Springs Farmers Market at Dripping Spring Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Dr. For those not purchasing online, you may shop in person on that date and during those hours.

Oct. 22

“Meeting Community Needs in a Disaster” is the topic of a public roundtable, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 RR12. A portrait of the real effects of disasters that disable critical systems will be drawn by a large panel of speakers who will discuss emergency plans and offer guidance on how individuals and families can prepare for disasters and support their neighbors.

Free to attend.

Oct. 23

“Lichens of the Texas Hill Country” is the topic of a 6:50 p.m. Hays County Master Naturalist Chapter talk by Zane Liston at the Wimberley Valley Library, 400 FM2325.

Networking from 6 to 6:25 p.m. and announcements from 6:25 to 6:50 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public.

Oct. 24

Concerts in the Dark with “Will Taylor and Strings Attached,” 8 p.m., Bel Canto Farms in Wimberley, 4205 Lone Man Mountain Rd.

Unique and transformative way to experience acoustic music that gives listeners the opportunity to immerse themselves entirely as every note, rhythm and resonance takes center stage. The concert begins with a short meditation to prepare the audience for an unforgettable performance of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”

Wimberley Library’s Adult Craft LAB is a year-round tinker and craft program for adults 18 and up. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

Thursday

Farmers and Artisan market meets Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Cowboy Church, 120 Green Acres Drive. Fresh foods from growers, arts, crafts and other vendors.

Overeaters Anonymous meets every Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the library of the Wimberley Presbyterian Church, 956 FM2325. Whatever the food issues, all are welcome at this meeting. Contact Kira, 661-435-5757.

National Mahjongg League groups meet Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Valley Library, 400 FM2325. The library owns sets, players should bring their own card. On Wednesdays, a group meets 10 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Senior Citizens room at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 RR12. Bring sets, cards and a $1 donation for coffee and snacks.

42 Players meet Tuesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Senior Citizens Center. Partners not necessary. A $1 donation supports coffee and snacks. Look for the Senior Center suite and entrance on the right side of the Wimberley Community Center.
