Pink Floyd’s powerfully transporting composition “Dark Side of the Moon” will be performed live outdoors in Wimberley in complete darkness by “Will Taylor and Strings Attached.”
The performance, which takes place October 24 at 8 p.m. at Bel Canto Farms, 4205 Lone Man Mountain Rd. is one of the “Concerts in the Dark” presentations by Will Taylor and other musical artists. The purpose behind these distinctive shows, say promoters and performers, is that listening to music in the dark is a “transformative way to experience acoustic music that gives listeners the opportunity to immerse themselves entirely as every note, rhythm and resonance takes center stage.”
The concert will begin with a short meditation to prepare the audience for what is likely to be an unforgettable performance. A masterful performer on the viola, violin and guitar, Taylor is also an arranger, composer and record producer. He is the founder of “Will Taylor and Strings Attached.” He is known for collaborating with artists such as Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam, Shawn Colvin, Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves and other accomplished artists. Will has spent decades blending classical and modern music. For the performance, he will be joined by Dave Madden on guitar, keyboard and vocals.
“I met Will when I worked at KUT many years ago,” said Suzanne Warmack, owner of Bel Canto Farms. “As a beginning adult violinist, I had the great fortune to learn from him, and since then, I’ve had the pleasure of playing with Will and the Starlight Symphony at Wimberley Valley Winery. I’m so excited to host “Will and Strings Attached.”
Dave Madden, joining Will on piano, is an alum of both Berklee College of Music and TED Talks. He has been voted Best Music Arranger at the AMP Austin Music Industry Awards, Top 10 Best Keyboards by Austin Chronicle’s Music Poll, and Best Austin Record by Insite Magazine. He’s a voting member for the Grammys, a member of ATXM Musicians Advisory Panel, and founder of the 11:59 Songwriter Group. Dave is a rare combination of accomplished songwriter and masterful multi-instrumentalist. For tickets, go to Eventbrite.com and key in Concerts in the Dark. Prices begin at $32.48.
