Lady Texans sweep through two more district matches

The Wimberley Lady Texan volleyball team kept their momentum rolling with a pair of straight-set district wins over Canyon Lake and Long Creek, improving to 37-5 overall and 6-0 in district play.

Against Canyon Lake, Wimberley controlled the match from start to finish, taking it 2512, 25-22, 25-13. Lilli Sandoval led the attack with 12 kills, while Skylar Herring distributed 16 assists. On defense, Ashton Shipman and Trinity Laney each posted 11 digs. Shipman and Skylar Mears each served up two aces, and Mears added three blocks at the net.

With that win, the Lady Texans wrapped up the first round of district play undefeated. The team then hit the road for a match at Long Creek.

Wimberley carried its dominance into the next contest, sweeping Long Creek 25-9, 25-14, 25-19. Trinity Laney led the offense with 10 kills, and Herring once again tallied 16 assists. Shipman anchored the back row with 18 digs,

while she and Laney each recorded three aces. Jill Abel contributed three blocks in the win.

Next up, the Lady Texans will host Davenport on Tuesday for their annual Dig Pink match, which was held on Tuesday after the Wimberley View’s time of press. This Friday, Wimberley will play the Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies at home at 6 p.m.
