On the last Sunday in September, the Fellowship at Eagle Rock in Woodcreek held an outdoor baptism on the grounds of The Lodge at Cypress Falls. Pastor Dirk Bauer and Lay Minister Deric Hamilton administered baptismal rites to more than 50 people in the waters of Cypress Falls swimming hole.
One of the many teens who attended the service was Tynlee Gingerich, age 15, from Cedar Park. Tynlee had no idea she was going to be baptized but felt called to take the plunge. “After the service I felt as though God was calling me to the water. I’ve been wanting to get baptized but didn’t know how or when I’d do it. This was a great opportunity in the beautiful waters of Cypress Creek and I’m so excited to start my journey in this new chapter of life.”
Another person who attended the event, Nadine Rogers, had this to say, “When I stepped into that creek and rededicated my life to Christ, I felt the weight of my struggles lift. For the first time in a long time, I felt true peace and the love of God washing over me. This baptism was not just a moment, it is the beginning of a new chapter.”
Hamilton, who is a founding member of the Fellowship at Eagle Rock said, “So many beautiful souls lined up to give their lives to Christ and to be baptized. There’s a movement towards Christ right now like I’ve never seen in my lifetime and it’s amazing and beautiful to witness. It was truly a sight to see.”
“We are planning on doing these as often as possible and I want to thank everyone that donated their time to make this possible, including the Jones Family who own the lodge, for graciously allowing us to use the site,” said Pastor Bauer.
