The Texans extended their winning streak to 21 games as Wimberley swept both Fredericksburg and Bandera in district play. No. 3 ranked Wimberley improves their overall record to 35-5 and their district record to 4-0.
The Texans started their week on the road against the rival Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies with Wimberley completing the sweep at 3-0 [25-21, 25-15, 25-10].
Freshman Trinity Laney led the team in kills with 15 followed by senior Cameron Thames with nine. Senior Lilli Sandoval was third in kills with seven.
Senior Skylar Herring led the team in assists with 17 followed by senior Carson Peoples with 13.
On defense, Sandoval led the team in digs with 14 with senior Ashton Shipman coming in second with 10 digs. Thames and senior Mariah McCoy led the team in blocks with two apiece.
The Texans returned home on Friday to face off with the Bandera Bulldogs. Wimberley ended the game with another sweep, beating Bandera 3-0 [2511, 25-9, 25-24].
Sandoval led the team in kills with nine followed by Laney and Thames with four. McCoy was fourth in kills with three. Herring led the team in assists with 13 with Peoples coming in second with seven.
Defensively, Shipman led the team in digs with seven followed by Herring with five. Sandoval, Laney and junior Kara Thames all had three digs. Junior Skylar Mears led the team in blocks with four. Junior Ellen Watson and junior Drew Thames both had two total blocks.
The Texans return home Tuesday night for the Battle of the Backbone against Canyon Lake before starting the second round of district play on the road against New Braunfels Long Creek.
