Cat Quirks

Is It Just Me?

From readers and from my own experience, here are a few cat quirks to ponder.

My kitty head butts me while we’re sitting in a recliner and I am trying to watch TV. If that doesn’t work, she reaches up and gently taps me in the chin, reminding me to pay attention to her.

My cat loves to sit on my lap top keyboard while I am trying to type. There is room for both of us, right?

My cat gets most active just as I am falling asleep for the night. Yes, he has been napping most of the day, but I didn’t get that luxury.

My kitties love their food one day, so I purchase a large quantity of it. The next day they hate it.

My cats favorite thing is to play in his kitty litter and throw it as far into the room as possible. Is he wanting a fresh batch even though I just changed it less than 24 hours ago? Or does my cat just want to have fun? My cat will nip at my dog’s tail, which will cause my dog to chase her, many times a day. I don’t think my cat likes seeing my dog enjoying a nap.

I open the door for my cat to go outside, and he won’t, until I sit down and he meows to be let out. The same thing happens when I open the door to let him in. It all has to be on his terms, obviously.

My cat loves to ride on the back of my bike, wearing a helmet. He is not a stayat- home cat. He goes where ever I go.

At 5 a.m. every morning, my cat comes into our bedroom and sits in front of the chair my dog sleeps on. She scratches on the chair until my dog wakes up. This is my dog’s signal to get up (5 a.m., I repeat) by running around our bed barking until we let her outside. Meanwhile, the cat quietly (and smugly) saunters into the kitchen to wait for his breakfast. He likes to blame the dog for the early morning and early breakfast.
