A journey through the captivating history of the Western art of trick roping — from the Mexican Vaqueros to the dazzling arenas of American rodeos — is the subject of the film “Roping Fools,” premiering at First Tuesday SMTX Film Series in San Marcos, TX.
A story of resilience, entertainment and the enduring legacy of an underground culture, the film features such notable performers as Will Rogers, Montie Montana, Charro, Tomas Garcilazo, and Wild West Performer, Loop Rawlins.
Directed by Will Fitzpatrick and produced by Ryan Sultemeier, and , the film will be followed by a question and answer period with Fitzpatrick and Texas State University Film Studies lecturer, Richeler Aladin. The premier of “Roping Fools” is in partnership with The Tom Copeland Speaker Series & Film Studies at Texas State University.
Advance tickets are $9 and available at firsttuesdaysmtx.com, and at the door.
