Delta Millworks, the family-owned Austinbased sustainable wood manufacturer, has officially broken ground on a $34.7 million headquarters and factory in Wimberley.
Construction of the facility is expected to be completed in 54 weeks. Designed by Pollen Architecture & Design, with environmental consultation by Blackland Collaborative, the new campus represents a significant step in Delta’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, environmental stewardship and thoughtful regional growth.
“We stand for sustainability at Delta,” said CEO Robbie Davis. “From the woods, to the coatings, to everything we do here, we truly believe in renewable products and wood sourced from sustainable forests that are growing and not shrinking. We wanted to take the same approach to our new facility in Wimberley, not just in the design and functionality of the new factory and office, but to really respect the land.”

The 88,000-squarefoot campus will sit on a 33-acre site at 17951 RR12, with only a third of the land being developed. “The building placement aims to minimize impact and preserve the native landscape,” said architect Elizabeth Alford of Pollen Architecture. “We worked closely with John Hart Asher of Blackland Collaborative to preserve the ecological health and diversity of the site and, in particular, the undisturbed prairie grassland at the front. Our site team included Erin Banks, Civilitude and OES Landscape Design.
“The project’s low-impact strategy includes preserving 90% of the site’s trees, many of which are historic live oaks. Rainwater harvesting tanks with a combined capacity of over 180,000 gallons will support irrigation, fire sprinklers, and stormwater management, and the south-facing roofs are designed to accommodate future solar panels. “We are proud that the project will have less than 20% impervious cover, minimal reliance on groundwater, and full dark-sky compliance,” said Alford. Inside, the factory will feature two mill sections connected by a central spine for Research and Development, sampling and testing. Inspired by Delta’s East Austin facility, the Wimberley factory retains the iconic sawtooth roof design, optimizing north-facing clerestories for diffused daylight. A mezzanine for visitor tours will be clad in Delta wood, and deep porches will offer workers areas of refuge with direct connection to the outdoors.
At the front of the property, a showroom and office building will mirror the factory’s roofline. “We’re using Delta wood throughout, along with rust-finish Corten cladding, large sliding shutters, and native, drought-tolerant landscaping,” added Alford. “It was important to us that the front of the site maintain a rural feel from RR12, with the factory tucked toward the back.”
Delta expects the new factory to triple its production capacity. “The facility will allow us to continue the growth trajectory we’ve been on for many years and better serve our customers allover the country,” said Chief Operations Officer Price Taylor.
“Delta has been my home away from home for a long time,” added Davis. “We are so looking forward to writing its next chapter in a way that not only reflects our values, but also gives our team and partners a space that’s inspiring, responsible, and built to last.”
By 2026, the facility expects to hire approximately 72 new workers from the Wimberley area.
