Wimberley fourth quarter comeback attempt fell short as the Texans fell to the Lampasas Badgers 31-24.
The Texans fall to 2-2 for the season while the Badgers improve to 40.
The Badgers struck first by kicking a 28-yard field goal in the first quarter to go up 3-0 on the Texans.
The Badgers later struck again in the sec- ond quarter. Going down to the Wimberley 25-yard line, Lampasas scored on the pass from quarterback Bryson Roberts to wide receiver Jaden McElwain, extending the lead to 10-0.

Lampasas scored again in the second as Roberts and McElwain connected for a 57-yard touchdown on the screen pass to put Wimberley down 17-0.
Looking to add a score before halftime, the Texans got the answer they needed. After starting the drive near midfield, senior running back Maverick Jacobs scored on a 38--yard rushing touchdown, cutting the deficit down to 17-7 following the extra point kick from Bo Holeman.
The Badgers answered the Texans score, driving down to the Wimberley one-yard line before running back K.J. Reed punched it in for the score.
At halftime, Wimberley trailed 24-7.
Needing a response on the opening drive of the second half, Wimberley marched down the field before senior quarterback Jackson Parker hit junior wide receiver Colt Wright for a 27yard pass to put the Texans on the Lampasas one-yard line. Three plays later, sophomore running back Madden Wharton bulldozed his way for a one-yard touchdown run, cutting the Wimberley deficit down to 24-14.
After the ‘Code Red’ defense forced Lampasas’ first punt of the second half, the Texans looked to make it a one-possesion game.
The Texans made another long drive that lasted into the fourth quarter before Holeman kicked a 41-yard field goal to again cut the deficit down to 24-17.
The ‘Code Red’ defense forced their second punt of the second half, allowing the Texan offense to take over at their own 14 yard line.
Facing third down, Parker hit junior wide receiver Micah Espinoza for a 46-yard gain, putting the Texans into Lampasa territory at the 34-yard line.
One play later, Parker hit Wright for a 34-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 24-24 with less than four minutes remaining in the game.
But the Badgers had one last answer. Driving down to the 10-yard line, Lampasas scored as Reed scored from 10 yards out to give the Badgers a 31-24 lead with 1:04 left in the game.
The Texans attempted to answer back but couldn’t convert on fourth down deep in their own territory as Lampasas escaped with the win.
Parker finished the game with 129 yards passing with one touchdown. Wright led the team in receiving with three catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. Jacobs led the team in rushing with seven carries for 99 yards.
The Texans will round out their three-game home stand this week as Wimberley faces their archrival Geronimo Navarro Panthers.
The Panthers enter the game with a 1-3 overall record, having lost to La Vernia 23-7 last Friday night.
This will be the 23rd alltime meeting between the Texans and the Panthers with series history dating back to 1988. Since 2010, Wimberley and Navarro have paired as district bunkmates while also playing in the postseason three different times.
Wimberley leads the overall series 13-9.
Kickoff for Wimberley-Navarro is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Texan Stadium.
