Wimberley’s winning streak stayed alive this week as the Texans swept both the Poth Pirates and the Cuero Gobblers.
The Texans’ winning streak extends to 17 games while also winning 33 consecutive sets. Wimberley started the week at home Tuesday night against Poth. The Texans dominated the Pirates as Wimberley swept Poth 3-0 [25-16, 25-10, 25-8].
Senior Lili Sandoval led the team in kills with 11 followed by freshman Trinity Laney with eight. Seniors Mariah McCoy and Cameron Thames were tied for third in kills with five apiece.
Senior Skylar Herring led the team in assists with 30.
On defense, Laney led the team in digs with 11 followed by Sandoval, Thames and senior Ashton Shipman with eight apiece. McCoy led the team in blocks with two.
Wimberley returned home on Friday to battle the Cuero Gobblers, ending with another sweep 3-0 [25-14, 25-23, 25-24].
Laney led the team in kills with 14 followed by Sandoval with seven. Senior Sophie Guerrero was third in kills with five. Herring led the team in assists with 18 followed by senior Carson Peoples with 15.
On defense, Laney led the team in digs with 11 to complete the doubledouble. Shipman was second in digs with 10 followed by Peoples with six. Junior Victoria Jones led the team in blocks with four.
Wimberley wraps up their final week on nondistrict play before starting district next week.
The Texans will go on the road to Killeen Chaparral on Tuesday before returning home to battle Johnson City in a showdown of defending state champions.
