The Tejas Brothers

TheStarsoverWimberley ConcertSerieshoststheenergetically entertainingheadliners, the Tejas Brothers, with their unique brand of Tex-Mexhonkytonk,attheWimberley PlayhouseonSeptember 16.

“If this music doesn’t put a wiggleinyourwalkyou’dbetter get your hearing tested,” saidRoothogRadio,remarking on the release of their fourth album and CD in 2014, “Live and Loose. . .. at last.”

Originally from Ft. Worth, the Tejas Brothers quartet is madeupofDavePerezonaccordion, LexCochranonguitar, John Garza on bass and Danny Cochran on drums. All members contribute to the vocals that they deliver in their fusion of country, blues, rockabillyandTejanooforiginal musicandcovers.

According to Colorado’s Alamosa Citizen, “the Tejas Brothers is a band widely known as one of the best live acts in Texas. Tejas Brothers front man and accordionist DavidPerezechoesthissentiment, “Music is supposed to be fun! They can’t put you in jail for combining Tex-Mex music with Honky Tonk music,oranaccordionwitha steelguitar,sowhynotdoit?” Opening the September 16 performance are the duo, Dawn&Hawkes,underwritten byKennethJeffries.

The Austin American States-man described the music of Miranda Dawn and Chris Hawkes as “sweet folk-rock – instantly appealing tunes, rooted in the singer-songwriter heyday of the early 1970s.” The Huffington Post summarized, “Transcendent alternative-folk–youwillfind yourself craving more from thisamazingdynamicduo.”

Theconcerttakesplaceatthe Wimberley Playhouse, the homeoftheWimberleyPlayers, 450 Old Kyle Road in Wimberley. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:30. Beverages, wine, beer and snacks are available for purchaseatthePlayersbar.
